Lacey Thompson is a passionate criminal defense attorney with offices located in Myrtle Beach and Columbia, SC. Her entire career has been devoted to defending clients in South Carolina state courts, and she takes pride in having never served as a prosecutor.

Lacey earned her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2013. She is an active member of the South Carolina Bar and the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (SCACDL), where she previously served as a board member representing the 15th circuit, which includes Horry and Georgetown Counties.

Outside of her legal practice, Lacey enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Mark, and their two sons, Luke and Mack. As a devoted football fan, she loves attending games to cheer on the Dallas Cowboys and the USC Gamecocks. 

Laura Hiller has devoted her entire legal career to criminal defense. Starting her practice in 2008, she has consistently focused on representing individuals charged with crimes. With extensive experience in courtrooms throughout South Carolina, Laura is well-versed in the state’s criminal justice system.

She graduated from the Charleston School of Law in 2007 and is an active member of the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys (SCACDL) and the South Carolina Bar Association. Laura also served as the treasurer for the Horry County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Outside of her professional life, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband and their puppy, Opie, soaking up the sunshine. She is passionate about practicing yoga, cycling, skiing, and floating down the Waccamaw River.

Caroline Latimer is a passionate criminal defense lawyer operating out of the Columbia, SC office. While she has experience in both civil and criminal law, Caroline has chosen to dedicate her practice exclusively to criminal defense, finding the process of guiding clients through the complexities of the criminal justice system to be exceptionally fulfilling.

Caroline earned her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2021. She is an active member of the South Carolina Bar, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina Bar, and the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

When she’s not working, Caroline enjoys spending quality time with her fiancé, Macey, their dog, Yeti, and their cat, Oscar. Together, they love visiting local breweries and cheering on the Gamecocks.

Mindi Ellison is an exceptional paralegal in criminal defense. While attorneys Lacey and Laura are often front-and-center in the courtroom, Mindi thrives in an office setting where she can engage directly with clients and guide them through the intricacies of the legal process. A dedicated mother of one, Mindi balances her professional life with a personal love for Dave Matthews concerts, embodying a well-rounded approach to both her career and personal life.

Paige Hale became a part of our criminal defense team as a legal assistant in 2021. Though she had prior experience in a law firm, her role here ignited a newfound passion for criminal defense. Eager to continuously expand her knowledge, Paige is committed to providing invaluable assistance to both our clients and attorneys. Outside of the office, she enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle through working out and cherishes quality time spent at her family’s lake house in the upstate region.
